v. (in the USA) read the Miranda rights to a person at the time of arrest; inform a person of her or his legal rights, inform a person of her or his constitutional rights; inform a suspect of legal rights at the time of arrest (right to remain silent, right to a lawyer, right to a public defender if one cannot afford a private lawyer)
